We leave in one week for La Paz, giving us a week or so to get settled and our syllabus confirmed before all participants arrive. I’m feeling the familiar anxious excitement – did I remember to do x? Is that really all I’m packing? Am I forgetting some important kid item?
More than anything, I’m ready to be there with everyone. We are focusing on social and ecological change this year, and we’ve got some site visits planned that help us learn about this theme and why it matters, not just in Bolivia but globally. Part of the learning process here is understanding how to do ethnography – to take what has been called “the imponderabilia of everyday life” to make sense of the impact of global processes on particular places and people and vice versa.
We will be in touch with updates once we get to La Paz!
